1.4 We are God’s Masterpiece

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10, NIV

The Apostle Paul communicates a clear theology of the life God gives us through His grace and kindness. In the first ten verses of Ephesians 2, he traces our journey from children of darkness deserving death to children of light receiving life because of his grace and mercy shown in Christ Jesus. Christ not only rescued us from death and hell, but He raised us into His life, even His life in the place of ultimate triumph – seated with him in heavenly places (vs.6).

In verse 10 Paul gives direction and purpose to this gift of life Christ has made possible. He proclaims the goal: We will do the good works of Christ that He has determined for us to do. We will walk in these workings of Christ through all the seasons of earthly life. As we journey, He equips us with all the gifts and special abilities to do mighty works for His Glory.

God gives you the very life of Christ today. What a handiwork He creates as you walk in the good works He desires for you to do! Agree with His plan for you. Express to Him now that you desire to accomplish all that He has determined for you to accomplish today and throughout your lifetime.

Prayer: Father, thank you for making me alive in Christ. Thank you for placing me in the heavenlies with Him. I desire to walk in all the good works He has determined for me. I know your power will give me the strength so I can be His masterpiece, His workmanship.

Commitment: I determine today to follow Christ and walk in the good works He has assigned me!
